Dr. Cheng Yu Tung, Prominent Philanthropist and Benefactor of the East Asian Library, dies at 91
The Cheng Yu Tung East Asian Library learned with great sadness of the passing away of Dr. Cheng Yu Tung on September 29, 2016. Dr. Cheng (1925-2016) was a great benefactor of the University of Toronto Libraries. Through his wonderful generosity in 1991 to the University of Toronto Libraries, the Cheng Yu Tung East Asian Library has been able to strengthen its resources and collections, enabling it to become one of the Canada’s leading East Asian libraries. Today, we enjoy a wide range of cooperative arrangements with distinguished libraries throughout East Asia, thanks to his vision.
