- In conjunction with the current exhibition, Images of China: Illustrations by Zhang Ming-ming, the Cheng Yu Tung East Asian Library hosted tours for Professor Yanfei Li's, Chinese language classes in East Asian Studies on September 19.
- The Cheng Yu Tung East Asian Library is pleased to report the orientation event for new incoming East Asian Studies graduate students on September 7, 2023, was a success!
- An exhibition presenting the illustrated works by notable Chinese-American illustrator, Zhang Ming-ming alongside displays of student illustrations from East Asian Studies at the University of Toronto.
- The East Asian Library mourns the loss of our cherished colleague, Dr. George “Qingzhi” Zhao, who dedicated 22 years of service to the library. George's memory will forever remain in our hearts and his legacy will continue to inspire us.

The collection includes a variety of materials on civic aspects of life in Shanghai.- Starting May 2023, the East Asian Library is introducing a new waste disposal program to ensure the cleanliness of our space and to protect our special collections.
- The Tibetan Collection Room at the Cheng Yu Tung East Asian Library will be closed to the public. Library users can still request non-circulating Tibetan materials by contacting the Cheng Yu Tung East Asian Library's Loan Services Desk.
- The East Asian Library is pleased to announce a recording for the lecture with Dr. Lianbin Dai (Oxonian), Sinologist and historian of late imperial China (1368-1911) is now available online. Captions are available in English.
