The Cheng Yu Tung East Asian Library and the Department of East Asian Studies at the University of Toronto is pleased to announce an exhibition presenting the illustrated works by notable Chinese-American illustrator, Zhang Ming-ming alongside displays of student illustrations from East Asian Studies at the University of Toronto.

Abstract: Book illustration and textbook development for learners of Chinese as a foreign language stand as advanced and exhilarating fields in their own regard. The renowned Chinese-American artist, Zhang Ming-ming and the textbook project "Speaking Out: Issues and Controversies," have seamlessly connected these two fields to benefit illustration enthusiasts and Chinese language learners alike. This exhibition proudly presents Zhang Ming-ming's original illustrations for Speaking Out, offering a vivid display of the sparkles between arts and Chinese teaching and learning. The exhibition also features Chinese language works completed by University of Toronto students who have incorporated these illustrations and the textbook in their studies.
