On September 22, the Cheng Yu Tung East Asian Library was delighted to host Director-General Jin-Ling Chen and Deputy Director-General Nicolas Hong from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Toronto who were invited to visit to the Cheng Yu Tung East Asian Library at the University of Toronto to enhance academic exchanges.

This included a tour of our library’s Taiwan Resource Centre for Chinese Studies (TRCCS), which was inaugurated in 2015 in partnership with the Taiwan’s National Central Library (NCL). The TRCCS is the first and only Taiwan Resource Centre for Chinese Studies in Canada, whose initiative has evolved from decades of sinology-based academic exchanges and international publication exchange programs. The TRCCS’s primary objective is to nurture increased international academic discourse in Chinese studies, showcase Taiwan's accomplishments in this field, and collectively establish a comprehensive global platform for sinological resources and information.

The Cheng Yu Tung East Asian Library is grateful for the ongoing communication and exchanges between our library and TECO over the shared vision and goal to continue to develop and promote Taiwan and Chinese studies resources. We look forward to future cooperation and deepening our academic collaborations.
