Cross-Currents: East Asian History and Culture Review is a
peer-reviewed, quarterly online journal that offers its
readers up-to-date research findings, emerging trends, and
cutting-edge perspectives concerning East Asian history and
culture from scholars in both English-speaking and Asian
language-speaking academic communities.
The website provides some links to other organizations and
to online resources of potential interest to CHINOPERL
members, including
Association for Asian Performance (AAP), Association for
Chinese Music Research (ACMR), Chinese Storytelling, and
European Foundation for Chinese Music Research (CHIME).
The Center for International Collections (CIC) currently
maintains five separate databases covering various aspects
of Asia, all of which are freely accessible to the public.
The purpose of these specialized databases is to promote and
enhance public access to the CIC’s extensive holdings by
making full use of all the latest available tools and
technologies.
CrossAsia offers access to research information for
humanities and social sciences from Asian countries and
about Asia. Academic fields covered by the service range
from philology, history, political science and economics to
ethnology and regional studies. Regardless of the form of
publications, CrossAsia integrates the bibliographic
description of printed and electronic resources.
The online journal for the study and exhibition of the
religion and arts of Asia. Asianart.com is dedicated to all
aspects of Asian art. It offers a forum for scholars,
museums and commercial galleries. It displays highlights of
exhibitions in public and private institutions and
galleries; present new discoveries by scholars and
connoisseurs; and, by providing space for private galleries
to present their works, offer the visitor a selection of
fine Asian art worldwide.
The Internet resources guide at the Hong Kong University of
Science and Technology includes 450+ entries that cover art,
history, politics and other aspects of traditional and
contemporary China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong. It
is keyword searchable and annotated.

assist students and scholars of Asian legal systems. It is a
collection of English language materials on Asian laws
available throughout the world and includes books, chapters
in books, journal articles and theses. It does not include
newspapers, magazines or unpublished articles.

China, Japan, and Korea.
Asian Film Online offers a view of Asian culture as seen
through the lens of the independent Asian filmmaker. Through
a selection of over 1,000 narrative feature films,
documentaries and shorts curated by film scholars and
critics, the collection offers highly relevant perspectives
and insights onto themes relevant across Asia, including
modernity, globalization, female agency, social and
political unrest, and cultural and sexual identity. Such
themes are central to any meaningful discussion of
contemporary Asian culture and society.
