The Universal Digital Library: Million Book Collection

The Universal Library is created to foster creativity and
free access to all human knowledge. It provides a free-to-
read, searchable collection of one million books, available
to everyone over the Internet. Within 10 years, it is
expected that the collection will grow to 10 Million books.
The result will be a unique resource accessible to anyone in
the world 24x7, without regard to nationality or
socioeconomic background.

UK Union Catalogue of Chinese Books

Following the successful completion in August 2002 of a
project funded by the Research Support Libraries Programme,
there now exists a UK Union Catalogue of Chinese Books
containing records from the British Library, Cambridge,
Durham, Edinburgh, Leeds, Oxford and SOAS. Particular
attention has been paid to the development of a simple and
intuitive search interface, enabling readers to gain rapid
access to the required information through the entry of
minimal search terms.

China-related Digital Resources

The portal for for China-related digital resources provides
a sortable and searchable list of digital resources that are
either freely available online or via the Centre of East
Asian Studies, the Cluster of Excellence \Asia and Europe in
a Global Context\, the University Library Heidelberg or the
State Library Berlin (CrossAsia).

Online Guide East Asia

CrossAsia offers access to research information for
humanities and social sciences from Asian countries and
about Asia. Academic fields covered by the service range
from philology, history, political science and economics to
ethnology and regional studies. Regardless of the form of
publications, CrossAsia integrates the bibliographic
description of printed and electronic resources.

Taiwan Review

Taiwan Review was founded in April 1, 1951. The goal of
Taiwan Review is to provide in-depth discussion of various
aspects of Taiwan including politics, economics, society,
the environment and the arts.

Chinaknowledge

Chinaknowledge is an Encyclopaedia on Chinese History,
Literature and Art to a wide public, from academic scholars
to the interested \layman\. It concentrates on certain
aspects insufficiently dealt with by other sources,
especially traditional literature, biographies, historical
terms, economic history. It also offers sources to each
article that are almost exclusively Chinese scholarly texts.
This method provides direct access to Chinese-language
secondary literature to persons not able or not brave enough
to read Chinese.

Internet Resources

The Internet resources guide at the Hong Kong University of
Science and Technology includes 450+ entries that cover art,
history, politics and other aspects of traditional and
contemporary China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong. It
is keyword searchable and annotated.
