
Political Relations and Conflict between Republican China and Imperial Japan, 1930-1939 Collection illustrates the political tensions between China and Japan through instructions and despatches from diplomatic and consular officials.
Records provide details on the Japanese occupation of Manchuria, beginning with the Mukden incident, in 1931; military action at Shanghai in 1931; Japanese political and economic penetration into China during 1935-1936; and the course of the undeclared war between Japan and China from 1937 to 1939.
The collection also includes notes between the Department of State and foreign diplomatic representatives in the US.
