Food and Drink in History collection explores the evolution of society through changing tastes and availability of food and drink in everyday life.
Through advertisements, government papers, cookbooks and film, the material in this collection is sourced from across the world to include a wide range of food cultures and traditions. These materials illustrate the strong linkages between food and identity, politics and power, gender, race and socio-economic status, including charting key issues around agriculture, nutrition and food production.
Notably, the collection includes rare cookbooks on Mexican, Latin American, Chinese and Asian cuisines, and also papers, diaries and correspondence from the Audrey Richards collection.
