This digital collection includes more than 200,000
photographs of art and architecture from throughout Asia.
The countries included in this collection are Afghanistan,
Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Myanmar (Burma),
Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.
The Hopkins Archive was begun in 1968 with reel-to-reel
magnetic tape on an Uher portable recorder. Since then the
media has changed but the archive is still maintained. It
now consists of over three thousand hours of authentic
oral transmission on many scholarly and cultural aspects
of Tibetan Buddhism, including many traditional Buddhist
philosophical topics, Tibetan medicine, Tibetan history,
and so forth. The archive includes four hundred hours of
teachings by the Fourteenth Dalai Lama and thousands of

selected photographs and postcards from Asia and South
America including scenes from China, India, Indonesia, the
Philippines, and Japan, 1870s-1930s. Represented are
historical events, typical street scenes and native people
in traditional dress.
The core of China: Culture and Society is the pamphlets
held in the Charles W. Wason Collection on East Asia
housed in the Carl A. Kroch Library of Cornell University.
Mostly in English and published between c. 1750 and 1929,
and amounting to around 1,200 items in 220 bound volumes,
these rare pamphlets form part of one of the deepest and
most extensive collections of literature on China and the
Chinese in the Western world and constitute a rich
resource for scholars and teachers in numerous
disciplines.The pamphlets have all been digitised in
China, America and the Pacific explores the cultural and
trading relationships that emerged between America, China
and the Pacific region between the 18th and early 20th
centuries. Manuscripts, rare printed sources, visual images,
objects and maps from international libraries and archives
document this fascinating history.
The project brings treasures from the NPM collection to you
using websites offering thematic introductions. These
thematic websites all provide a full array of visual and
textual materials on artworks as well as various functions
for appreciating them. This is done so in the hope of
creating a multiple learning environment that will yield
greater study and research benefits as well as reach the
goal of digitized educational and promotional efforts.

枚，另外还包括西元1930、1934年黄文弼在新疆盐泽发现的「罗布淖尔汉
简」（58枚），以及西元1944、1945年夏鼐、阎文儒勘查玉门关、阳关及
汉代边防烽燧遗址路线，所发现的「敦煌小方盘城汉简」（76枚）、「武威
剌麻湾汉简」（7枚）。
Robert Hegel's book True Crimes in Eighteenth-Century
China: Twenty Case Histories presents a sample of crime
reports from eighteenth-century China in English
translation. All are capital crimes. Since all capital
crimes might carry the death penalty, detailed reports of
all levels of investigation had to be forwarded to the
Emperor for his final decision on sentencing. Capital
crimes required investigation and review at local,
prefectural, provincial, and central levels of the
imperial Qing period (1644-1911) administration. These
