Neo-Confucianism

SCOPE

Xin ru xue ( 新 儒 學 ) or Neo-Confucianism appeared approximately from A.D. 960-1644, mainly in Song Dynasty ( 宋 朝 , A.D. 960-1279) and Ming Dynasty ( 明 朝, A.D. 1368-1644). Traditional Chinese philosophy changed and broadened greatly because many new or renewed ideas entered into its scope, such as Moral and Philosophy, Politics, Social Realities and Living Environment, Religion (mainly Buddhism) and Emptiness, Concept of Universe, etc. Later, some of the scholars considered Chinese traditional philosophy from this period on as not pure anymore while others thought it was a renaissance, a natural development. Scholars in many lands continue their debates on this and many related subjects to this day.
