Records of the US State Department is a collection of reports on economic, political and military affairs, statistics, interviews, meeting minutes, correspondences, and diplomatic cables. 1940-1944 covers wartime relations between the United States and China; 1950-1959 covers the rapid transformation of postwar Japan from a devastated and occupied country to an independent state within an American-led order of capitalist states; 1930-1963 covers the Japanese occupation era through to the postwar period; Korea's liberation and partition under Soviet and US occupation in 1945; the Korean War and the 1953 armistice.
