
This is a collection of diplomatic materials that trace the political and commercial relations between the United States and Japan over the course of almost half a century. Items include mostly instructions to diplomatic and consular officials, as well as notes between the Department of State and foreign diplomats in the US, memoranda prepared by State Department officials, and correspondence with officials of other government departments and with private businesses and persons.
