Changes to Tibetan Collection Room Access at the Cheng Yu Tung East Asian Library

The Tibetan Collection Room at the Cheng Yu Tung East Asian Library will be closed to the public. Prior to its closure, the Tibetan collection was only available for use in the Tibetan Collection Room. However, over the past year, our team has made efforts to improve the material accessibility and user experience of our library by successfully inter-filing Tibetan studies monographs into the open stacks and reference titles of the Tibetan collection in our general reference section.

Library users can still request non-circulating Tibetan materials by contacting the Cheng Yu Tung East Asian Library's Loan Services Desk in person or via email at access.eal@utoronto.ca, or by phone at 416-978-3300.

These changes begin as of April 2023 and remain in effect until further notice. The East Asian Library strives to continually support students and the academic community who rely on these resources, we thank our patrons for their understanding. 

The Tibetan Collection Room is currently closed to the public. Circulating materials in the Tibetan language are now available for self-retrieval in the open stacks. To access materials stored in the Tibetan Collection Room, you can either: Place a Library Pickup Request from the library catalogue, or Place a request at the Loan Service Desk in the East Asian Library. For research questions about the Tibetan collection, please contact the Tibetan Studies Librarian, Kristina Dy-Liacco, by email to kd2881@columbia.edu. These changes remain in effect until further notice.
