Virtual Exhibit: Images of China: Illustrations by Zhang Ming-ming

From September-December 2023, the Cheng Yu Tung East Asian Library hosted the physical exhibition Images of China: Illustrations by Zhang Ming-ming. In collaboration with curator Yanfei Li, Assistant Professor (Teaching Stream) and Coordinator of the Chinese Language Program, Department of East Asian Studies, University of Toronto, the Library has created a virtual version of the exhibit: View the virtual exhibit https://exhibits.library.utoronto.ca/exhibits/show/images-of-china-zhang/home.
The exhibition showcases original drawings by Zhang Ming-ming (Ming-ming Cheung), created for Speaking Out: Issues and Controversies, An Advanced Chinese Reader. The virtual exhibit preserves the essence of the physical display while including all original drawings that could not be shown in person. It also features an expanded selection of student essays and opinion pieces, providing a broader perspective on the exhibition’s themes.
