The Cheng Yu Tung East Asian Library is excited to announce the launch of the Guide on Anti-Asian Racism: Asian Canadian History.

The guide aims to establish a hub for University of Toronto Libraries resources on the history of anti-Asian racism in Canada. Created in response to the rise of anti-Asian racism due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the guide provides starting points for users to learn about the histories of Asian Canadians and Asians in Canada. The guide focuses specifically on developments relating to East Asian Canadian communities, with a few points and resources relating to key and intersecting events in South and Southeast Asian Canadian histories.

Organized chronologically, the guide includes a historical timeline, a list of recommended UTL resources organized by starting date or period of coverage, and a brief overview of community organizations and resources. A more extensive timeline and additional UTL and external resources for exploration are also available in the guide’s “Further Information” page.
