Internet resources for all disciplines

This project is based on Mr. Fu Ssu Nien’s collection of
Shang Zhou bronze objects which have great values in various
academic fields, such as philology, ancient history and
history of art. In order to enable these materials to be
widely known among people, and to extend the lifespan of the
objects, this project has been working on digitalization of
the objects, and has also publicized these digitalized
materials on the internet.

This is the website for the Temple Gazetteer Project at
Dharma Drum Buddhist College. The project is funded by the
Chung-Hwa Institute of Buddhist Studies. The aim of the
project is to tap into this wealth of information in order
to deepen our understanding of Chinese Buddhist history.
Between 2007 and 2010, 237 gazetteers were digitized and
are distributed on this website. Of these 13 gazetteers
were digitized as full-text archives and marked up with
TEI/XML, identifying all persons and place names as well
as dates. A print edition of these enhanced versions is
under preparation.

本资料库整理校对与数位化的典藏品是中央研究院历史语言研究所收藏的汉
简，其中以西元1930~1931年瑞典考古学家贝格曼（Folke Bergman）等人
在内蒙古与甘肃境内之额济纳河流域发掘的「居延汉简」为主，约11000馀
枚，另外还包括西元1930、1934年黄文弼在新疆盐泽发现的「罗布淖尔汉
简」（58枚），以及西元1944、1945年夏鼐、阎文儒勘查玉门关、阳关及
汉代边防烽燧遗址路线，所发现的「敦煌小方盘城汉简」（76枚）、「武威
剌麻湾汉简」（7枚）。

This project began in 2004 with the establishment of the
digital archive of oracle bone rubbings, an important
objective of the process being storing the Institute of
History and Philology's oracle bone rubbings, in excess of
about forty thousand articles. They may be divided into two
categories: rubbings of archaeologically excavated animal
bones and tortoise shells, and rubbings of bones and shells
got from purchased collections.

历史语言研究所金文工作室建置的「殷周金文暨青铜器资料库」（系统由中
研院计算中心开发，GIS则与中研院地理资讯科学研究专题中心合作），已
于2009年五月免费开放学界申请使用。资料库目前收录《殷周金文集成》、
《新收殷周青铜器铭文暨器影彙编》，两书共约14000件青铜器资料，完整
呈现了每件铜器的器影、铭文拓片、器名、时代、出土资讯、现藏地、流
传、尺寸、纹饰及着录等各项讯息，并结合「GIS地理资讯系统」，即时观
看青铜器历史地图，了解器物出土地分布状况；依考古报告绘製的「墓葬平
面图」，标志各器物出土时在墓葬的实际位置，提供研究者详实且便捷的青
铜器和金文知识。

The Digital Archive Projects t at Dharma Drum Buddhist
College contains several projects: Scripture and Canon,
Buddhism in Taiwan, Bibliographies, Catalogs and
Publications, Miscellaneous projects, Multi-media Archives,
and Collected Works.

This is a digital archiving project undertaken by the
National Tsing-Hua University of Taiwan that aims at
digitizing and making publicly accessible a batch of
historical records including correspondences, postcards,
calligraphy and painting works, and other archival
materials
dating back to the period when Taiwan was under the
colonial
rule of Japan. Images of the archival documents are
available online in PDF files, and the portal makes it
possible for users to browse and search for the index and
information.

The website lists a selection of Harvard Library digital
collections. Collections related to China and Asia have
already been highlighted on the list. Readers can visit the
website to explore collections concerning other areas.

The Digital Collections is the National Library of
Medicine's free online archive of biomedical books and
videos. All of the content in Digital Collections is freely
available worldwide and, unless otherwise indicated, in the
public domain. Digital Collections provides unique access to
NLM's rich, historical resources.

This is the browse list of the digital collections at the
University of Michigan Library.

This dictionary is a compilation of Buddhist terms, texts,
temple, schools, persons, etc. that are found in East
Asian Buddhist canonical sources. While there is obviously
a basic layer of East Asian terminology, since much of
what East Asian Buddhists have written about is the
Buddhism of India, Central Asia, and Tibet, the content of
this database/dictionary/encyclopedia/translation glossary
is pan-Buddhist in character. This project, which was
initiated in 1986, is to the best of our knowledge, the
most comprehensive compilation of Buddhist terms presently
available in English.

This digital library contains Buddhist bibliographies
(396,555 entries) and a database of 34,930 full text
Buddhist articles in 45 languages and 15 different types of
data.

U.S. National Library of Medicine has understaken a great
number of digital projects to create free online archives of
biomedical resources that are in the public domain, and make
them freely available worldwide. This web page has a list
of the NIH digital projects and allows users to browse and
identify relevant digital resources by subject.

The Digital Silk Road is a research project that archives
and makes accessible historical records about cultural
heritage along the Silk Road. It currently includes several
interesting resources: Digital Archive of Toyo Bunko Rare
Books on Silk Road (in western languages), Digital Maps of
Old Beijing, and Silk Road Maps. So far, more than 116 rare
books written in various languages have been digitized and
made available online in the Digital Archive of Toyo Bunko
Rare Books on the Silk Road.

Visual Cultures in East Asia is the new generic platform of
the Institute of Asian Studies (IrAsia) for the development
and display of research projects and collections that
involve the use of visual and cartographic materials. It
will actually serve as a portal for the individual as well
as collective projects of the LEAS scholars and graduate
students, as well as their partners.

The Directory of Open Access Repositories, or OpenDOAR, is
\an authoritative directory of academic open access
repositories\. An institutional digital repository helps
to capture, manage, preserve and disseminate the
intellectual output created by community members
of the host institution. OpenDOARS makes it easy to
identify institutional repositories, either by
\Search(ing) for Repositories\ or browsing the \repository
list\ . But more than that, the portal makes it possible
to \Search Repository Contents\, by which users can
conduct federated keyword searches at the document level
across repositories.

The e-Asia Digital Library is a digital collection
developed by the University of Oregon Library. The
project aims to build \a collection of digitalized
e-books and a database of full text web resources\
to contribute to research and scholarship on East
Asia, while not duplicating nor displacing printed
traditional materials. The focus is on East Asia,
including China, Japan, Taiwan, and Korea (South
and North). It currently holds over 4,000 items.

It covers the history and culture of China, Japan, and Korea
in premodern and modern periods.

Edward Bangs Drew joined the Chinese Maritime Customs
Service in 1864 after earning his BA degree from Harvard.
In 1868, Drew was appointed a Commissioner of the Service, a
position he held for decades. During that time he collected
photographs that document clothing, customs, and daily life
in 19th century China, as well as Drew's life and career,
including family and social gatherings, public appearances,
and events and ceremonies.
